Minut Init, an art gallery for emerging new artists, is best described by founder James Ly as “a small space where magic happens”.
James Ly, who studied design abroad, decided to open his art gallery in UPtown due to the central location and suitable SOHO environment.
This cozy cultural space was established in 2010 as a platform for contemporary arts. Here, local artists such as Nizam Abdullah, Justin Lim, Dali Abdul Aziz and Mils Gan have exhibited their artwork.
Ly’s gallery is also a place for budding artists who want an avenue to display their artwork, learn and explore art in a community of like-minded people. The gallery exhibits all forms of art, from paintings to sculptures and photography. Minut Init has been host to poetry reading sessions & a fashion show as well. Drawing workshops can also be conducted for those who want to fine-tune their drawing skills.
Ly has plans to add a bar cum café at Minut Init so patrons can relax and enjoy a drink while perusing the walls lined with art.
